The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Hyginus Nkwocha, a 35-year-old businessman, in Abuja for alleged involvement in internet fraud and money laundering.
The suspect, often referred to as a ‘young billionaire,’ was apprehended at Ever Green Estate, located behind Millennium Estate in Lugbe, Abuja. His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to fraudulent online activities and illicit financial transactions.
During the operation, the EFCC seized several high-value items from Nkwocha, including $2,200 in cash, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and a MacBook. The commission also confiscated luxury items such as a gold chain and pendant, a gold bracelet, a gold neck chain, and three luxury vehicles: a Mercedes Benz ML 350, a Chevrolet Camaro, and a Mustang.
Furthermore, the EFCC identified and recovered properties belonging to Nkwocha in various locations. These include properties at Cookies Court 2, Ocean Palm Estate in Ajah, Lagos; Unit C8, Lugbe Airport Road in Abuja; and Cookies Court 2, 2nd Avenue, Ocean Palm Estate in Ogombo, Lagos State.
The arrest is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud and money laundering across Nigeria. Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC, confirmed the arrest and noted that Nkwocha will face legal charges once investigations are concluded.
