Dutse: Unknown Assailants Brutally Murder Woman, Leave Daughter Unconscious
The serene neighborhood of Dutse in Jigawa State was rocked by the discovery of the lifeless body of 47-year-old Esther Adekanla, widely known as Hadiza Nakowa. The horrific incident happened on Thursday, leaving residents in a state of distress.
According to a resident who spoke to Daily Post, Esther Adekanla, a respected food vendor, had last been seen on February 12, 2024. Concerns arose among neighbors when attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful. The matter was reported to the police, and detectives from the Dutse Division were promptly dispatched to investigate.
Police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the grim details, stating that upon entering Adekanla’s residence, a harrowing scene awaited them. Her lifeless body lay in the sitting room, bearing visible cuts on her head and neck.
Tragically, her 11-year-old daughter, Christiana Michael, was found alive but unconscious in a locked store, also bearing head injuries. Both victims were swiftly transported to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Shiisu disclosed that a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed Esther Adekanla’s death, and her body was subsequently transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
The State police commissioner, AT Abdullahi, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure the swift apprehension of the assailants. Abdullahi underscored that anyone found guilty would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
