“Do you have wicked and envious brothers?” – Widow Advises Single Women on Key Questions to Ask Their Suitors Before Marriage
A Nigerian widow, Uba Chidinma Ugoji, has shared a candid message with single women, advising them to ask their partners critical questions before committing to marriage. Her advice comes in the wake of her personal ordeal, where she accused her brothers-in-law of forcefully taking over her late husband’s house, rendering her and her children homeless.
In a post shared online, Chidinma appealed to young women preparing for marriage to dig deeper into the dynamics of their partner’s family. She emphasized the importance of understanding family ties and potential in-law interference before walking down the aisle.
“Dear young lady who desires to get married soon,” she wrote, “Please make sure you ask your spouse these important questions before saying ‘I Do.’”
Among the questions she listed were:
1. Do you live in a family house in the village?
2. Do you have wicked and envious brothers?
3. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do your brothers love you?
4. Does wickedness run in your family?
5. Will your mother have a say in your marriage?
She added that the fifth question is especially crucial and concluded her message with a bit of humor: “Let me stop here for now. This course is called Marriage 101. Learn from old mamas like us ooh.”
