DHQ Announces Major Victory: NAF Airstrike Wipes Out Three Terrorist Commanders in Borno Operation
The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) announced that the air component of Operation Hadin Kai has successfully neutralized three notorious terrorist commanders in Marte Local Government Area of Borno.
Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operation, provided the update in Abuja on Thursday, shedding light on the army’s recent activities. The targeted airstrike, carried out around a remote village at Arinna Woje, resulted in the demise of the identified terrorists – Abacha, Bakura, and Babangida.
Buba disclosed that beyond the elimination of the three commanders, the operation on February 19 also led to the death of 22 other terrorists. Additionally, separate military actions in Katsina state at Gidan Ganki resulted in the neutralization of approximately 30 fighters, with the recovery of hidden motorcycles in an abandoned building.
“In a coordinated effort on the same day,” Buba stated, “seven motorcycle-riding terrorists were neutralized at Gidan Guga in Katsina.”
Further details revealed that on February 24, an air interdiction operation at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina confirmed the neutralization of over 20 terrorists.
Highlighting the collaborative efforts between the military and law enforcement agencies, Buba reported the successful elimination of a notorious kidnapper leader, David Okpolowu, alias “2 Baba,” in an airstrike conducted in Ahoada forest. This operation took place in coordination with the Nigerian police in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state.
The Defense Headquarters continues to assert its commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the nation.
