Amy’s decision to detransition surfaced after she shared a poignant childhood photo of herself as a girl, expressing her quest to reconnect with that lost identity. Describing the detransition process as unexpectedly arduous, she unveiled her heartfelt sentiments through a series of posts under her online alias, X, on Sunday, May 5.

Reflecting on her journey, Amy confessed, “Detransition is harder than I ever imagined 😭.” Recounting her initial transition 15 years ago, she acknowledged the rift it created within her family and the girl she once was. Determined to reclaim her authentic self, she declared, “Today, I’m bringing her home.”

Embracing her true essence, Amy revealed her innate tomboy nature, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance. “I’ve been so caught up in the pressures & expectations of what being a woman means, I forgot there is no right or wrong way,” she confessed. “I’m a masculine woman & that’s okay.”
