Delta Police Arrest Four Officers Over Viral Money-Counting Video
Police in Delta State have arrested four officers who were caught on camera counting bundles of cash inside a patrol vehicle, a video that sparked widespread outrage after it circulated on social media.
The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, describing the footage as “embarrassing.” He said the officers, including two senior personnel, had been identified and brought before the Commissioner of Police. According to Edafe, the senior officers have been queried, while two inspectors are in custody awaiting an orderly room trial.
The viral clip had generated strong public criticism, with many Nigerians questioning the source of the money and the conduct of the officers involved. Edafe had earlier promised that disciplinary measures would be taken, assuring that the Command would not overlook the incident.
