Dele Momodu Criticizes EFCC’s Handling of Alleged Fraud Case Against Yahaya Bello

In a recent development, veteran journalist Dele Momodu has voiced strong criticism against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding their handling of the ongoing case involving former Kogi governor Yahaya Bello. Momodu accused the EFCC of “misfiring” in their investigation and failing to conduct due diligence.

During an Instagram Live session, Momodu, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed skepticism towards the EFCC’s claims that Bello utilized government funds to pay his children’s school fees upfront before the end of his tenure. He faulted the commission’s conduct, urging the current chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to learn from the mistakes of his predecessors.

Momodu emphasized the importance of adhering to the rule of law and conducting investigations meticulously and professionally. He criticized the EFCC chairman’s approach, stating that media trials are unnecessary.

When questioned about the veracity of the EFCC’s allegations against Bello, Momodu stated that while he does not work for the EFCC, it appears that they “misfired” and failed to do their due diligence. He highlighted discrepancies in the timing of the alleged transactions, suggesting that the EFCC’s claims may not be accurate.
