“Declare May 30 a Public Holiday to Honour Biafra Heroes” – IPOB to South-East Governors

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on governors in Nigeria’s South-East region to officially declare May 30 a public holiday in honor of Biafra Day. The group made this appeal on Friday, stressing the importance of recognizing the day as a moment to remember those who lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War.

IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful issued a statement urging South-East and South-South governors to emulate their South-West counterparts, who succeeded in having June 12 recognized nationally as Democracy Day. The group reaffirmed its commitment to honoring the memory of the fallen and pledged to remain steadfast in its pursuit of the restoration of Biafra.
