Dangote Refinery to Launch Free Petrol Delivery Across Nigeria Starting September 15
Dangote Refinery has announced that it will begin free direct delivery of petrol across Nigeria starting September 15. The refinery made the announcement on its X page on Thursday, noting that the initial rollout will cover 11 states, with plans to expand to other regions in the future.
The refinery stated that petrol will be sold at an ex-gantry price of N820 per litre. Retail outlets in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti will receive petrol at N841 per litre, while Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo, and Kwara states will see prices of N851 per litre. Station owners nationwide are encouraged to register to benefit from the free delivery scheme.
This move follows Dangote Refinery’s June 15 announcement of acquiring 4,000 new compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tankers to boost its fuel distribution capacity. The company also highlighted that its nationwide petroleum distribution plan is expected to save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually.
Analysts have suggested that while the scheme could provide relief to end users, it may pose challenges for the downstream petroleum sector.
