Dangote Refinery Refutes Petrol Price Speculation: “We Have Never Discussed Price of PMS with Marketers”
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a statement denying claims that it has set the price of petrol at N600 per litre. This clarification comes in response to reports suggesting that oil marketers anticipated this pricing from the refinery.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, emphasized that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not currently a business partner of the refinery. “We have never discussed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcripts,” Chiejina stated.
Chiejina also urged the public to ignore speculative announcements, noting that the company uses official channels to communicate with its stakeholders.
This clarification follows expectations that the Dangote Refinery would begin petrol supply this month, with the refinery having announced on July 15 that it would commence distribution in August.
