Dangote is a Businessman, Not ‘Father Christmas’ – Shehu Sani Warns Nigerians
Former Senator Shehu Sani has urged Nigerians not to expect Aliko Dangote or his refinery to provide fuel at giveaway prices, warning that Dangote is a businessman, not a ‘Father Christmas’ offering free petrol.
This caution comes in the wake of a statement from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), which clarified that the pricing of petroleum products from any refinery, including Dangote’s, will be determined by global market forces.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Sani emphasized that Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, operates in the business world and is not engaged in social services or charity related to fuel.
“Don’t expect him to be your ‘Father Christmas’ for petrol,” Sani wrote. He further stressed that NNPCL remains crucial to maintaining stability in Nigeria’s energy sector. “NNPCL still holds the ace for the stability and the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.”
The senator also cautioned Nigerians to temper their expectations, stating: “I must caution you against the anxiety of waiting for manna from Aliko.”
