Suspected members of an unknown cult group, have been reported to have attacked a dredging point manned by Naval officers at Bayeku, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of Lagos State.
One of the officers on duty, had his hand chopped off and his service pistol taken away.
The cultists were reported to have come through the water ways and also escaped through the same route.
In a prompt response, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo land, HRM. Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, summoned a Security meeting in his Palace.
The Monarch expressed his displeasure at the incidence and advised all security agencies to immediately commence thorough investigations on events surrounding the incident.
He advised those involved in the ugly incident to immediately return the stolen pistol in their own interest.
He also seized the opportunity to sympathize with the attacked Naval officer, who is said to be recuperating at the Igbobi Specialist Hospital.
Also present at the meeting were Commander A.S Omotosho representating the Naval Command, the DPO Igbogbo Divisional Police Station, ASP A.R Balogun, Barrister Ade Ayeni, Council Secretary of the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA amongst others.
On his part, Commander A.S. Omotosho in his statement said he was shocked and disheartened by the attack.
He further said “When issues like this happens, what we needed is to react and take appropriate actions immediately to forestore future occurrence.”
In his reaction the DPO Igbogbo Police Station, said “all we need is the cooperation of people, who we expect to provide relevant information to help us in apprehending those involved in the dastardly act.”
The Secretary to the Council, Barrister Ade Ayeni, who represented the Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Daini in his comment, noted that the cooperation of members of the community is needed to achieve success in all spheres.
The meeting resolved to bring the culprits to book as soon as possible.
