Cross River NDLEA Commander Found Dead in Calabar Hotel
The commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Cross River State, Morrison Ogbonna, has been found dead in a hotel room in Calabar. His colleagues made the discovery on Thursday morning after they arrived to pick him up for an assignment. According to reports, repeated knocks on his door went unanswered, prompting them to alert the hotel management, who unlocked the room and found him lifeless.
Ogbonna had only recently been transferred to Cross River in August, replacing former commander Rachel Umebuali. His sudden death has left the agency in shock.
Spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, Irene Ugbo-Obase, confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. The NDLEA has not yet released an official statement on the development.
