Covid19 Abia State – Is God angry?

Earlier in March 2020, Governor Ikpeazu in a chat had said ” Abia is the only state mentioned in the Bible. We have the promise of God that none of these diseases will touch God’s people.”

He was reported to have said “We saw Ebola, it did not get to us. We saw Monkey pox, it didn’t get to us. Even this one called corona virus will pass us by.”

It would be recalled that the Governor, volunteered his sample for Covid19 test and subsequently directed that members of the state executive council and those in the inter ministerial committee on Covid19 should submit themselves for same test.

A first test was carried out sometime in May 2020, that test result returned nagative.

However, a second test was again carried out on the 4th of June, 2020, this test returned positive.

The commissioner of Information in the state, John Okiyi Kalu, announced that the Governor has become the latest positive case in the state.

Some of the Governor’s aides have also tested positive for the virus.

Following the latest report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Abia state now ranks 20th on the list of confirmed cases in Nigeria having moved up from the 33rd spot.

In the latest report, Abia state recorded 67 confirmed cases taking the daily lead.
