“Come Back Home to PDP,” Lamido Urges El-Rufai, Kwankwaso, Obi, Others Ahead of 2027

Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has called on prominent political figures who left the party to return and help rebuild it in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a breakfast meeting with various PDP groups from Jigawa State in his hometown of Bamaina, Birninkudu Local Government Area, Lamido stressed that only a united PDP can mount a serious challenge against President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He appealed directly to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, former Kano State Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and others who once held influential positions under the PDP platform, urging them to rejoin the party and work together to offer Nigerians a better alternative.

“You cannot succeed in fighting Tinubu by emotion, by anger, or by trying to take revenge. It is not possible. It is better for all the leaders and chieftains of the other opposition parties to come back home and join the remaining family members to achieve the desired objectives,” Lamido said.

He reminded them that their political careers were shaped by the PDP, which governed Nigeria from 1999 to 2015. “Come back to your home. There is no shame in coming back home. Rejoin your initial and trusted family members with whom you achieved and provided good governance in the country,” he added.

Lamido criticized the current state of the nation under the APC-led government, asking whether Nigeria is better off now compared to the PDP era. “We are worse,” he concluded. He urged opposition figures not to let personal grievances cloud their vision, emphasizing that panic-driven actions won’t help Nigeria move forward.

He praised PDP leaders, members, and lawmakers who have remained loyal to the party for their dedication to defending democracy and standing with ordinary Nigerians during trying times.
