Christ Embassy Fire: Oyakhilome Vows to Rebuild Bigger Headquarters
In a resolute response to the fire incident that devastated the headquarters of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, has pledged to build a larger and more magnificent facility.
The fire, which broke out on Sunday morning, severely damaged the main auditorium of the church. Security operatives cordoned off the site while firefighters battled the blaze for several hours. Despite their efforts, the incident disrupted traffic and forced the relocation of Sunday services to another branch.
Speaking during a service at the church’s campground in Ogun State, Oyakhilome reassured his congregation, stating, “Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident. Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wound.”
He recalled a similar instance during the 2001 Ikeja cantonment bombing when the church building withstood significant vibrations, prompting thoughts of reconstruction which were ultimately deemed unnecessary at that time.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) confirmed that the fire had been brought under control. LSFRS Director, Mrs. Margret Adeseye, noted that the fire’s intensity increased because the church initially attempted to manage the situation without the assistance of state fire services. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined pending a thorough investigation.
