Castrate and Burn Rapists Alive — Singer Simi Demands Harsh Punishment
Afrobeats singer Simisola Kosoko (Simi) has sparked debate after calling for extreme measures, including castration and execution by fire, for rapists.
Nigeria has seen a recent surge in sexual assault cases, raising concerns about women’s safety nationwide. On Tuesday night, Simi took to X to voice her frustration: “I’m sickkk of this. Stop raping women. They need to castrate rapists and burn them.”
Her call for severe punishment drew mixed reactions, with some arguing that false rape accusers should face similar consequences. Simi clarified that her stance supports survivors of sexual assault, not false accusers, and stressed that nearly all the women she knows have experienced sexual violence.
She urged men to hold one another accountable, emphasizing that societal pressures often enable perpetrators. “Women are terrified to go out. Women in their homes are not safe either. Ask your sisters. Ask your female friends and your girlfriends. Ask your wives. We’re not all crazy. Stop raping women,” Simi added.
