Cameroon Election: Mohamed Salah’s Photo Appears on Voters’ List, Causes Online Stir

Cameroon held its presidential election on Sunday, and an unexpected twist caught the attention of social media users across Africa, including Nigeria. At the Ngaoundéré III polling station, the face of Egyptian football superstar Mohamed Salah appeared on the list of registered voters.

Multiple media outlets verified that the image is indeed visible on the official Elecam website, the body responsible for organizing the elections. The incident quickly went viral, with many online users finding it humorous, while others raised concerns about the accuracy and reliability of Cameroon’s voter registration system.

Vote counting began on Sunday, with incumbent President Paul Biya, 92, widely expected to secure another term. Biya has been in power for 43 years, making him one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. The appearance of Salah’s image on the voter list has added an unusual twist to an election already under international scrutiny for transparency and fairness.
