British-Nigerian Cosmetic Doctor Loses Licence for Providing Botox in Exchange for Sexual Favours
Dr. Oluwafemi “Tijion” Esho, a British-Nigerian cosmetic doctor based in the United Kingdom, has been stripped of his licence to practise medicine. This follows a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) decision, which found him guilty of giving free Botox treatments to a patient, referred to as Patient A, in exchange for sexual favors.
The tribunal heard that Dr. Esho engaged in an improper emotional relationship with Patient A, exchanging sexually charged messages with her on Instagram. Despite his denial of having any physical sexual contact, the MPTS panel, sitting in Manchester, ruled earlier this month that he had sexual intercourse with Patient A at his clinic in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2021 and had provided Botox treatments without charge.
Additional details revealed that Dr. Esho made inappropriate comments and touched Patient A inappropriately during earlier consultations. In one instance, he stroked her hair and rubbed himself against her while making suggestive remarks about the shape of her bottom. The tribunal further established that the doctor allowed Patient A to masturbate him during one of their interactions.
Despite his repeated denials, the tribunal found that Dr. Esho’s actions demonstrated sexual misconduct. As a result, the tribunal declared that his fitness to practise was impaired due to this misconduct and announced that his name should be removed from the medical register. The formal reasons for this severe sanction will be released next week.
The inappropriate Instagram messages exchanged between Dr. Esho and Patient A between July 2019 and February 2022 were cited as evidence during the tribunal. In one message from September 2019, Dr. Esho hinted at his sexual desires, stating: “What you doing to me lol. Morning Glory. Bloody have me wanting the real thing. That’s like every man’s dream.” In subsequent messages, he made further sexually explicit remarks and implied that he might break the doctor’s code if he engaged in a sexual relationship with Patient A in exchange for free Botox.
Dr. Esho’s career in the media also came under scrutiny, as he was previously featured on ITV’s morning program and E4’s “Body Fixers.” Following the tribunal’s findings, he released a statement acknowledging his inappropriate communications but continued to deny having had sexual relations with Patient A.
The loss of Dr. Esho’s medical licence is a significant outcome, especially given his prominence in the cosmetic surgery industry. His Esho Clinic, which has branches in London, Liverpool, and Dubai, has a celebrity clientele. This decision serves as a stern reminder of the consequences of misconduct and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries in the medical field.
