Brenda Biya Urges Cameroonians to Vote Out Her Father, Citing 43 Years of Misrule

Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president Paul Biya, has urged Cameroonians to reject her father in the upcoming October 2025 presidential election, accusing him of presiding over decades of decline.

In a TikTok Live session, the 27-year-old, who is popularly known as “King Nasty” on social media, said her father’s rule had left the country in poverty, unemployment, and political stagnation. She called on citizens to put an end to his four-decade grip on power.

Her remarks have drawn global attention, as this is the first time in Africa that the child of a sitting president has openly campaigned against their parent’s rule.

Paul Biya, 92, has led Cameroon since 1982, making him one of the world’s longest-serving and oldest heads of state. His presidency has been repeatedly criticized for corruption, authoritarianism, and human rights violations. Despite this, he announced in July that he would run for an eighth term in the election scheduled for October 12.

“I am a candidate for the 12 October 2025 presidential election,” Biya declared on his official X account, adding that his determination to serve remained strong in the face of challenges. He insisted that “the best is still to come” and described his continued leadership as a duty to ensure the security and well-being of Cameroonians.

Brenda Biya’s unexpected opposition introduces an extraordinary twist to an already tense election season, with critics and supporters alike watching to see how her statement will influence the political climate in Cameroon.
