Boko Haram IED Attack Kills 26, Injures 3 in Borno State

A devastating IED explosion, believed to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists, has claimed the lives of at least 26 people, including four women and six children, along the Rann–Kala Balge to Gamboru Ngala road in Borno State. The attack occurred around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025.

According to security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, several civilian vehicles travelling from Rann in Kala Balge Local Government Area to Gamboru Ngala were struck by a series of improvised explosive devices planted along the route. The convoy reportedly entered the area unaware that explosives had been strategically buried along the roadside.

The explosives were triggered by vehicle movement, leading to immediate and severe casualties. In addition to the 26 fatalities, three others were injured and have been evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene swiftly to carry out evacuations and assist the wounded. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched clearance operations to prevent further incidents.
