Bloodbath in Benue: Gunmen Unleash Fresh Horror on Otukpo Community, Many Feared Dead
Terror returned to Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State less than 24 hours after a deadly assault on Otobi-Akpa, as gunmen launched a fresh attack on Emichi village on Wednesday afternoon.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community around 2:00 p.m., opening fire indiscriminately on residents. Panic spread rapidly as villagers fled into nearby bushes, seeking safety amid the gunfire.
Eyewitnesses reported that no security personnel were present during the attack, leaving the community vulnerable and unprotected. The exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, but several persons are feared dead.
This latest incident comes on the heels of a brutal assault on Otobi-Akpa on Tuesday evening, where at least 11 people were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen. The back-to-back attacks have left residents of Otukpo deeply shaken, raising serious concerns over the escalating violence and lack of security presence in the area.
More details are expected as the situation develops.
