Bandits Leader Who Allegedly Killed 32 Worshippers Seen at Katsina Peace Meeting

A photo has emerged showing Babaro, a notorious bandit leader accused of orchestrating deadly attacks in Katsina State, at a peace dialogue in Faskari Local Government Area on Sunday.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the image on X, described Babaro as one of the most feared figures in the region, accused of terrorising communities in Kankara and Malumfashi. He is alleged to have led the recent attack on worshippers in Mantau, Malumfashi LGA, where 32 people were killed and several others injured during evening prayers.

The meeting in Faskari reportedly resulted in a peace deal between residents and bandit leaders. According to another analyst, Bakatsine, both sides agreed to terms that include mutual forgiveness, allowing bandits to enter towns without arms, ensuring safe access to farmlands and grazing areas, and releasing captives without ransom.

Bakatsine noted that other notorious figures such as Ado Aleru and Kwashen-garwa were also present at the dialogue.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding Babaro’s participation in the meeting or the reported peace agreement.
