Bandits Kill Two, Abduct Zamfara RMAFC Coordinator in Road Ambush

A violent ambush on the Funtua-Gusau Road on Sunday resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and the abduction of Alhaji Bashir Abara Gummi, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), along with several other travelers.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that armed assailants blocked the busy roadway, opening fire on multiple vehicles. Two people were reportedly killed on the spot during the attack, while the gunmen targeted Gummi’s vehicle as he was traveling to Abuja for an official assignment.

“The bandits blocked the road, fired shots at the vehicles, and kidnapped several passengers,” one witness recounted. The ambush created chaos, leading to the abduction of Gummi and numerous other victims.

Notably, Alhaji Abubakar Dan Maliki, the Zamfara State Auditor General, narrowly escaped the incident. He arrived at the scene shortly after the initial assault but quickly fled upon realizing the imminent danger.

Efforts to reach the Zamfara State Police Command for further comments were unsuccessful, as ASP Yazid Abubakar did not respond to calls or messages.
