Bandits Kill Traditional Ruler, Abduct Wife in Kwara
Bandits have mercilessly killed a traditional ruler in Kwara, identified only as the Onikoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area. The assailants attempted to kidnap him, but their sinister plan went awry, leading to the fatal shooting of the monarch.
A source disclosed on Thursday night that the assailants, who remain unidentified, subsequently kidnapped the wife of the traditional ruler after callously abandoning his lifeless body. It was learned that the details surrounding the attack are scarce, and the source could not provide additional information about the harrowing incident.
“The monarch was killed while his wife and others were moved away (kidnapped) by the gunmen,” the source lamented.
As of now, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, has not been available for immediate comment on the distressing event.
This tragedy is happening just days after suspected killer herdsmen claimed the lives of two traditional rulers in Ekiti and abducted schoolchildren. The late victims, David Ogunsakin, Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, and Olatunde Olushola, Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, fell victim to a deadly ambush while returning from a security meeting.
