Atiku Warns Tinubu: ‘Call Your Son to Order – Nigeria Is Not A Private Estate’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and take action against his son, Seyi Tinubu, following allegations of coercion, violence, and intimidation. The allegations, made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah, include claims of physical assault, abduction, and inducement by Seyi Tinubu.

In a statement released on Friday through his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku expressed deep concern over the seriousness of the allegations, emphasizing that such behavior, if proven true, would pose a grave threat to democratic principles and civil liberties. Atiku, who contested against Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, warned that it is unacceptable for members of the first family to attempt to undermine civil society through force, threats, or bribery.

Atiku reminded the nation that Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy, and that political power should not be used to stifle dissent or manipulate society. He strongly condemned any actions by the first family that seek to consolidate power through fear and intimidation, urging Nigerians to reject such practices.

The former Vice President also clarified that he had no involvement in the allegations made by Comrade Isah, stating that his interactions with the NANS president were focused solely on education reform and student welfare. He stressed that the accusations against Seyi Tinubu require an independent investigation, particularly in light of concerns about the involvement of government agencies that are supposed to protect citizens.

Atiku issued a stern warning, stating that any harm to Comrade Isah would not go unnoticed or unchallenged. He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding democratic values, the rule of law, and the importance of education for national progress. Atiku concluded by asserting that Nigeria deserves leadership that values truth, accountability, and respect for the law, rather than one that uses power to suppress opposition.
