The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed the development during a press briefing on Tuesday, confirming that the incident was reported to the police on May 7, 2026.
According to the police commissioner, Alebiosu informed the command that a security guard at his Lagos residence received the parcel. When it was opened, two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were discovered inside.
Fatai said the discovery raised serious security concerns and prompted an investigation.
"The matter is still under investigation. It is a serious case, and the investigation needs to be more thorough," the commissioner said.
He added that no suspect has been arrested.
"Although the MD mentioned some individuals he suspects could be behind the incident, those remain his suspicions. We are still investigating the case," he said.
The police commissioner made the clarification while responding to questions about reports of the parcel.
Fatai also announced that the Lagos State Police Command had arrested several suspected criminals in recent operations. He said officers recovered 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, one motorcycle, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.
