Two suspected “one chance” operators have been arrested in Abuja after allegedly robbing a female passenger along the Giri–Lugbe corridor on the Airport Road axis.
The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command during a routine patrol by its Violent Crime Response Unit. Officers reportedly encountered a distressed woman who had just been dispossessed of her belongings.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, the victim told officers she was attacked inside a commercial vehicle commonly used by the suspects before being dropped off after the robbery.
Acting on the information, the patrol team intercepted a blue Volkswagen Golf with registration number SKK 567 AG. Two occupants identified as Muhammed Muhammed, 22, and Muhammed Saidu, 20, were taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of items reported stolen from the victim, including a laptop, an iPhone, and a charger. Officers also found two knives and a pair of scissors inside the car.
Police authorities said the suspects will be charged in court after investigations are completed.
The command restated its focus on patrol-based crime prevention and urged residents of Abuja to remain alert and report suspicious activity to security agencies.
