APGA Chairman, Njoku, Declares Full Preparedness for Edo, Ondo Gubernatorial Polls

In a press statement on Wednesday, Chief Edozie Njoku, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), announced the party’s comprehensive readiness to vie for the governorship positions in Edo and Ondo states. With the Edo State election set for September 21 and the Ondo State election scheduled for November 16, APGA has finalized plans for primary elections in both states.

Chief Njoku assured the media at the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal that the primary elections, commencing next week and spanning a month, will yield formidable candidates poised for victory at the polls.

However, Chief Njoku raised concerns about INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, accusing him of intentionally obstructing the party’s progress by disregarding the Supreme Court’s judgment recognizing him as the authentic APGA national chairman. Despite High Court and Supreme Court rulings in Chief Njoku’s favor, Prof. Yakubu allegedly refused to acknowledge his leadership.

Calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Attorney-General of the Federation to intervene, Chief Njoku expressed frustration with INEC’s non-compliance with court orders, highlighting a committal judgment against Prof. Yakubu by the FCT High Court of Bwari on November 9, 2023.

Emphasizing APGA’s commitment to the people of Edo and Ondo states, Chief Njoku urged governorship aspirants to trust in the party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent primaries. He affirmed that APGA, as a party, represents the aspirations of Nigerians, vowing to uphold integrity in the selection process for potential governorship candidates.

Chief Njoku concluded by announcing a planned visit by the National Working Committee (NWC) delegation to Edo and Ondo states, encouraging party members to obtain their PVCs at INEC offices, emphasizing the importance of exercising their electoral franchise as responsible citizens. He underscored the party’s dedication to fostering a patriotic spirit for a better Nigeria.
