APC to Nigerians: ‘Don’t Allow PDP Return to Power in 2027’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to prevent the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from returning to power in 2027, citing the alleged damage caused during the party’s 16 years of governance. APC’s National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, emphasized in an interview with Sunday PUNCH that Nigeria is still suffering from the consequences of the PDP’s misrule, labeling the party as one that is on the verge of extinction due to its ongoing leadership issues.

Ibrahim argued that the PDP had failed to manage the country and itself, saying, “What is happening has shown that God came to the rescue of Nigerians by pushing them out of power.” He also invited PDP members to the APC’s Progressive Institute to learn how to manage politics effectively, without bitterness.

The APC leader responded to critics who claimed the party was involved in the ongoing turmoil within the PDP. He questioned the legitimacy of claims linking APC to the leadership issues within the PDP, pointing out that none of those involved in the crisis were APC members.

The gathering, which included the governors of Bauchi, Taraba, and Adamawa States, discussed the party’s reconciliation efforts and strategies ahead of the 2027 elections. The meeting also included members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, led by former National Secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola, alongside several senators, House of Representatives members, and state assembly members.
