APC Chairmanship Race: I Can Do Anything Tinubu Asks Me to Do, Including Dusting His Table – Former Governor Al-Makura

Former Nasarawa State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Tanko Al-Makura, has expressed his willingness to serve in any capacity if called upon by President Bola Tinubu, including the role of APC national chairman. In an interview with Trust TV, Al-Makura underscored his unwavering loyalty to the party and the president, saying he would carry out any assignment, no matter how menial, if it contributes to the progress of the party and the country.

“If Mr President, as the leader of this country, tells me that ‘Al-Makura, I want you to come to my office and dust my table every Monday…’ I will make it a date. I will come, dust the table, and go,” he said. “I will be satisfied that I have done what the president wants. That is the level of my commitment and loyalty to a leader.”

His remarks come amid mounting speculation about his possible emergence as the APC’s next national chairman. The position became vacant following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje in June, with Bukar Dalori currently serving as acting chairman. Al-Makura, who governed Nasarawa from 2011 to 2019 and later served in the Senate, is regarded as a steadying influence within the party, particularly in the north-central region.

He also disclosed that he stepped down from his previous chairmanship bid in 2022 in line with the party’s consensus arrangement, highlighting his long-standing respect for party decisions and leadership unity.
