Anambra’s Onyinyechi Basil Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025
Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025.
The highly anticipated grand finale was held on Saturday, September 30, at the Convention Center of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson as hosts.
The pageant, which began with 22 contestants unveiled on August 26, saw the competition narrowed to the top 10, and later to the final five: Miss Ogun, Miss Lagos, Miss Akwa Ibom, Miss Anambra, and Miss Bayelsa.
In the end, Basil emerged winner of the third edition of the competition after impressing the judges across all segments, including swimwear, traditional costume, evening wear, and the question-and-answer session.
Damilola Bolarinde of Lagos finished as first runner-up, while Bayelsa’s Fortune Kurobo and Ogun’s Irene Ikediashi secured second and third runner-up spots, respectively. Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, received the title of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
As the new Miss Universe Nigeria, Basil will represent the country at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for November 20 in Bangkok, Thailand. She will also receive a cash prize, material rewards, brand endorsements, training, and paid appearances.
