Anambra State Government Demolishes More Kidnappers’ Hideouts in Nnewi

The Anambra State Government has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities by demolishing more houses used as hideouts by kidnappers in Nnewi. The latest operation targeted over four buildings at Umu-Umejiaku Nnewi and Umuogbo Obiofia Nnewi-Ichi, both in Nnewi North Local Government Area.

The demolition was part of the government’s Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative, aimed at eradicating crime and ensuring the security of lives and property. In addition to demolishing the buildings, the security team also dismantled shrines, mini-cells, and bush hideouts used by criminals.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, reiterated the administration’s zero tolerance for crime. He warned kidnappers and other criminals to leave the state or face severe consequences under the ongoing security initiative. He also urged residents to report any suspicious activities in their communities, cautioning that those who shield criminals could face legal repercussions.

During the exercise, neighbors and an uncle of the prime suspect, identified as Chinemerem Oforma, denied any knowledge of the alleged criminal activities.

The deputy governor was accompanied by key officials, including the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, and the Mayor of Nnewi North, Mr. Echezona Anazodo. The state government has vowed to continue the crackdown until criminal elements are completely eradicated from Anambra.
