Anambra Electoral Body Sets Date for 2026 Local Government Elections
The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced that elections into the offices of Local Government Chairmen and Ward Councillors across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas will hold on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
In a notice signed by Hon. Genevieve C. Osakwe, Chairman of ANSIEC, the commission disclosed that nomination forms are now available at its headquarters located at No. 14/16 Km 8, Awka–Onitsha Expressway, Awka.
The detailed timetable and election schedule will be made public on Friday, November 28, 2025, giving political parties and aspirants ample time to prepare for the polls.
The announcement signals the formal commencement of preparations for the grassroots elections, which are expected to shape governance and representation at the local level in Anambra State.
