Anambra Election: Ekwunife Congratulates Soludo, Calls for Unity After APC’s Second-Place Finish

Senator Uche Ekwunife, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra governorship election, has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election and urged residents to unite in support of the state’s development.

In a statement released on Monday, Ekwunife thanked her supporters for their dedication during the campaign, describing their effort as a “victory of faith, unity, and hope” despite the outcome. She ran alongside Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, whose APC ticket finished second in the election.

“Though the election outcome may not have been what we desired, I am profoundly proud of the effort that Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu and I put into this race,” she said. “I extend my warm congratulations to His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, on his victory and re-election for a second term. I sincerely wish him success in leading Anambra to greater heights.”

Ekwunife urged her supporters and other stakeholders to put the state’s interest above partisan divides, calling for collective effort to ensure peace and progress. “When Anambra succeeds, we all succeed,” she added.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the poll after securing the highest number of votes across the state’s 21 local government areas. His re-election extends APGA’s control of Anambra, where the party has held power since 2003.

Ekwunife’s message of goodwill comes as political actors across the state continue to congratulate Soludo, signaling a conciliatory tone and renewed calls for unity after a closely watched contest.
