Anambra Commissioner of Police Praises Residents for Defying IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order
Anambra Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, has lauded the residents of Anambra State for their resilience in defying the illegal sit-at-home order imposed by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a statement issued in Awka on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga relayed the Commissioner’s commendation, describing IPOB members as “criminal elements.”
CP Itam also praised the citizens for their resolve against actions that threaten national unity and public peace. He highlighted that Anambra is home to vibrant, energetic, and enterprising people whose potential can only be fully realized in a peaceful and secure environment.
As part of his efforts to ensure public safety, Mr. Itam led police patrols across various areas in the state to evaluate security deployments and monitor adherence to operational orders. His patrols included visits to schools where the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) was in progress, where he expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements.
CP Itam urged police personnel assigned to this task to remain resolute, firm, and professional in their duties. He also called on the public to continue supporting the police and other security agencies by providing information that can help combat criminal activities and maintain public order and safety in Anambra State.
