Amotekun Apprehends Man Accused of Using ‘Magic Ring’ to Abduct, Assault Married Woman
Operatives of Osun Amotekun have apprehended Babalola Timothy, aged 35, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Sofiyat, a 35-year-old married woman, purportedly through the use of a charmed ring.
Timothy stands accused of coercing the victim to leave her marital home in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state, and relocate to his residence in Modakeke, Ife-East area office, where he purportedly held her captive for three weeks.
During this period, the suspect reportedly confined the woman to a room, engaging in sexual activity with her against her will and providing sustenance intermittently.
Commandant Bashir Adewinmbi of Osun Amotekun disclosed that the victim managed to escape on March 29, when Timothy released her in the Campus area. Her cries for help drew the attention of nearby Amotekun operatives, who promptly responded to her distress call.
Upon investigation, Timothy confessed to the crime, claiming that the victim initially sought his assistance in promoting her palm oil business. However, after her refusal of his advances due to her marital status, he resorted to seeking the help of a cleric who provided him with charms to manipulate her.
Following his arrest on April 1 in Sekona, the suspect has been handed over to the Department of State Services for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
