Allegations Surface: Minister Alake Claims Powerful Nigerians Behind Banditry

In a recent statement, Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, declared the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal mining activities in Nigeria. Alake, leading a government delegation, emphasized this commitment during a condolence visit to the Oyo State Government following an explosion at Bodija estate in Ibadan.

Highlighting a concerning connection, the minister asserted that powerful individuals within Nigeria were orchestrating banditry associated with illegal mining. He shed light on the sponsorship of banditry, terrorism, and insecurity by influential figures involved in illegal mining, spanning across various social classes.

Alake clarified that the Federal Government was collaboratively addressing the issue with state and local governments, as well as knowledgeable host communities familiar with the local terrain. He emphasized the inclusive nature of illegal mining issues, affecting both high and low classes within society. The government, Alake stated, is employing a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to combat this menace.

Regarding the Bodija estate explosion, Alake disclosed that the government would await the final report of forensic investigations into the incident. He cautioned against premature pronouncements, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of forensic analysis reports from multiple agencies and intelligence arms.

The minister urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious activities in their surroundings promptly. He underscored the importance of community awareness and cooperation in preventing incidents like the Bodija estate explosion, emphasizing that safety-conscious reporting is crucial for averting negative outcomes.

The Federal Government, Alake concluded, will make informed judgments and decisions based on the authentic forensic report, ensuring appropriate actions are taken concerning the victims of the tragic incident.
