Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has firmly refuted recent claims of an impending leadership change within the National Assembly. In a statement released on Saturday, Eyiboh reaffirmed that the National Assembly, under Sen. Akpabio’s stewardship, remains stable and harmonious.
Eyiboh expressed his concerns about the false reports circulating regarding a supposed change in the Senate’s leadership, emphasizing that such claims were devoid of truth and seemed to stem from a syndicated media attack originating from outside the National Assembly.
He further clarified that these reports were nothing more than imaginative fabrications laced with malicious intent, the purpose of which remained unclear to the senators.
“Senators are presently concluding their holidays in their constituencies and other locations where they have chosen to spend their time after the rigors of the inauguration, ministerial screening, and other constructive engagements,” Eyiboh stated. “All senators are also taking time to refresh themselves ahead of the resumption of legislative duties. Therefore, any insinuation that they are presently involved in subversive plots against the institution is rather unfounded.”
Eyiboh also pointed out that those senators who initially did not support the current leadership have now unanimously endorsed Sen. Akpabio’s leadership. He urged against continuing to associate these senators with needless conspiracy theories, stating, “Continuing to link these senators with baseless insinuations is unfair.”
Finally, Eyiboh appealed to the media, requesting them not to succumb to conspiratorial narratives that could harm the reputations they have painstakingly built over time.
