Again, Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest in Taraba
In a distressing incident that unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Tarhembe, a dedicated priest hailing from St Ann’s Catholic Parish in Sarkin Kudu, Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba, fell victim to a kidnapping carried out by four armed assailants.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Most Rev. Mark Nzukwein, confirmed the shocking abduction of Father Tarhembe. The announcement was made through the diocese’s Communication Director, Rev. Fr. John Jerome, based in Jalingo.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding the abduction, Bishop Nzukwein has issued a heartfelt plea to the public and all individuals of goodwill to join in fervent prayers for the safety and swift release of Father Thaddeus Tarhembe. Currently, the abductors have not established any form of contact, intensifying concerns for his welfare.
Despite the gravity of the situation, endeavors to elicit a response from the police regarding the incident have yielded no results. SP Abdullahi Usman, the spokesman of the Police Command in Taraba, remained unresponsive to repeated calls and text messages.
