ADC Has No Preferred Presidential Aspirant for 2027 – David Mark

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it holds no preference for any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections. Interim National Chairman and former Senate President David Mark made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Kogi chapter of the party in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mark emphasized that the ADC, under his leadership, is committed to transparency and fairness, noting that the party’s primary focus is to build a credible platform that resonates with the Nigerian people. “The ADC has no preferred or favorite presidential aspirant, but has set out to first put out a platform that would be attractive and acceptable to the majority of Nigerians,” he said. “We are doing this because we do not want this great ship called Nigeria to sink, because if we do not rise up now and it sank, all of us will be affected.”

He reaffirmed the party’s core values of equality and inclusivity, stressing that all members are equal stakeholders. “I don’t own this party more than any of our members and I urge all members to prepare to show Nigerians that ADC is a different party — a party that is ready to properly run democracy in our country. All Nigerians must come together and take ownership of the ADC.”

Mark also urged party members to put aside their differences and work collectively to build the party’s strength before focusing on political ambitions. He criticized the trend of political mudslinging and advised politicians to instead focus on pressing national issues such as insecurity. “Let us continue to work to rebuild our nation and bring out her best in the overall interest of future generations,” he added.

In a related development, Mohammed Sheriff of the ADC National Legal Support Group revealed that names of non-party members were being used in legal actions filed against the party and its interim leadership. He stated that those individuals were not listed in either the physical or digital registers of ADC members in Kogi and Nasarawa States. Sheriff assured that the group is prepared to defend the party in court, noting that 97 lawyers have so far volunteered to represent the ADC in the ongoing legal matter.
