ADC Experience Is Teaching Me More Than What Any Political Science Degree Could — Aisha Yesufu
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu says her experience inside the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reshaped her understanding of political structures in ways formal academic training could not.
In a statement shared on her verified X account on Saturday, Yesufu said her time as a registered member of the party has offered practical lessons about how political influence is negotiated.
According to her, “The things I am learning just by being a registered member of ADC, no political science degree would have taught me those things and I love it.”
She added that political parties remain central to real power bargaining, describing her decision to join the ADC as personally significant.
“Political parties are where the real power brokering takes place. Joining ADC is the best decision I have ever made,” she said.
Yesufu joined the ADC on December 31, 2025, shortly after former presidential candidate Peter Obi left the Labour Party and aligned with the platform.
In recent commentary, she has also advised opposition figures, including Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to focus on campaign strategies that reflect current economic pressures.
She argues that worsening economic conditions have shifted voter attention toward daily survival, reducing the impact of traditional campaign messaging ahead of the 2027 elections.
