Abuja High Court Grants Whistleblower Isaac Bristol ‘PIDOMNigeria’ N5 Million Bail
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted N5 million bail to Isaac Bristol, the whistleblower behind the PIDOMNigeria account on the social media platform X. The ruling was delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, who also stipulated that Bristol must provide one surety in the same amount.
The bail ruling followed a motion on notice submitted by Deji Adeyanju, who led Bristol’s legal defense team. Justice Nwite further directed that Bristol must surrender his passport to the court, and the surety must be a resident of Abuja, supported by an affidavit of means and three years of tax clearance, along with two passport-sized photographs.
Bristol has been in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre since September 11, facing charges of treason. The allegations include his role in the #EndBadGovernance protests, accusations of money laundering against President Bola Tinubu, and the unlawful acquisition and dissemination of classified documents, violating the Official Secrets Act of 1962.
