8-Year-Old Shoots Teacher to Death at Ford Elementary School

An 8-year-old student, Quianna Hudson, brought her father’s firearm to Ford Elementary School in Detroit, Michigan, and fatally shot her 56-year-old gymnastics teacher, Jim Turner.

Reports indicate that Turner had summoned Quianna to his office during gym class. Shortly after, two gunshots were heard, sending students fleeing in terror. School security personnel rushed to the scene and found Turner deceased with gunshot wounds to his thigh and chest.

Police arrived promptly and took Quianna into custody. At the police station, Quianna alleged that Turner had been inappropriately touching her and had threatened her if she reported the abuse. Fearful for her safety, she retrieved her father’s gun from under a mattress and brought it to school for protection.

Security footage corroborated Quianna’s account, showing Turner regularly taking her into his office. Quianna’s parents are expected to face charges related to Turner’s death.

The community is sharply divided over the incident. Teacher Lorraine Jacobs, who witnessed the aftermath, expressed skepticism about Quianna’s story, saying, “I’ve known Jim for years. He was not that kind of man.”

However, some community members supported Quianna’s actions. “If he was hurting her, she did what she had to do to protect herself,” one remarked.
