57 Lawyers Shortlisted for SAN Rank by LPPC (FULL LIST)
The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has shortlisted 57 lawyers for the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The announcement was made in a statement issued by Kabir Akanbi, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, following the committee’s 169th plenary session held on Tuesday.
The SAN rank is one of the highest honours in the Nigerian legal profession, conferred on legal practitioners who have demonstrated outstanding excellence either as courtroom advocates or as legal academics contributing significantly to legal scholarship.
According to the LPPC, all shortlisted candidates are required to participate in a mandatory pre-swearing-in induction programme, in line with the directives of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN). Attendance and successful completion of this programme are prerequisites for the conferment of the title.
The committee also issued a reminder that, under Paragraph 25(1) of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Guidelines and Rule 39(3) of the Rules of Professional Conduct (2023), nominees must not publish or endorse any form of congratulatory messages or advertisements regarding their selection. Violations may result in sanctions.
The formal swearing-in ceremony for the new SANs is scheduled for September 29, 2025.
