25-Year-Old Suspect Arrested for Beheading Teenage Brother in Ondo
A 25-year-old man identified as Daniel has been arrested for allegedly beheading his 15-year-old brother, Emmanuel, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The gruesome incident occurred on Monday evening, July 27, at Origbara River, a location within the community.
Residents say the shocking act has thrown the town into panic and disbelief. According to eyewitnesses, Daniel was caught by a local farmer who reportedly saw him attempting to hide his brother’s severed head inside a bag.
While the motive for the killing remains unclear, neighbours mentioned that the siblings had earlier engaged in what seemed to be a minor quarrel. “Some people living close to them said it was a typical sibling disagreement. But we believe there is more to it,” one resident said. “Here in this town, anyone who sheds human blood—whether for ritual or any other reason—does not stay hidden for long.”
Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest and said the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a full investigation. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further handling.
