2027 Election: Tinubu Will Win Over 32 States if Jonathan Runs – ADC’s Leke Abejide
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Customs and Excise, Leke Abejide, says President Bola Tinubu would win in more than 32 states if former president Goodluck Jonathan enters the 2027 presidential race.
Abejide, who represents Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the prediction during the *Mic On* podcast with Seun Okinbaloye on Saturday.
“My prayer is that they should run like that – on different political platforms – and Asiwaju will win 32 states,” Abejide said. “He may lose maybe Anambra, Abia… he will win Ebonyi; he may even win more than 32 states.”
The lawmaker cautioned against Jonathan’s return, recalling that the former president served one term before losing to the late Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Abejide’s remarks come against the backdrop of his recent suspension by the ADC in Kogi State, a decision that was subsequently ratified by the party’s State Working Committee.
Speaking on Tinubu’s popularity, Abejide pointed to his recent travels in the North.
“I just came from Kano on Wednesday, slept there, then travelled by road to Kaduna and by train to Abuja. No insecurity, the road is very good, and people are happy,” he said.
Speculation has been mounting over a possible Jonathan comeback in 2027, but Abejide’s comments suggest such a move would only strengthen Tinubu’s re-election chances.
