17-Year-Old Yobe Girl Beats 69 Countries in Global English Contest
A 17-year-old student from Yobe State, Nafisat Aminu, has emerged as the top performer in English Language at the TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom. Competing against participants from 69 countries and surpassing over 20,000 contestants, Nafisat clinched the top position, making her country proud on the international stage.
The announcement, made on Monday, quickly drew praise across social media platforms. Many Nigerians took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate her remarkable achievement. One user, @abbeykool, described it as “another win for the country,” while another user wrote, “We have the best brains here; we dominate anytime we compete.”
Nafisat’s win adds to a growing list of Nigerian accomplishments in global arenas. On the same day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rewarded national sports teams D’Tigeress and the Super Falcons with $100,000 each for their victories in African women’s basketball and football, respectively.
