15-Year-Old Steals Bus, Drives 130km to Pick Up Girlfriend for School
A 15-year-old in Wiesbaden, Germany, reportedly stole a bus from a transport company and used it to travel to another city to pick up his 14-year-old girlfriend and take her to school.
According to reports published on Thursday, the teenager entered a bus depot last Friday, accessed a vehicle using a master key, and drove off without being detected at the time. Although surveillance cameras captured the incident, staff initially assumed the bus had been taken by an authorized driver.
The disappearance was not reported to police until later in the day. At first, the company believed a driver may have mistakenly taken the wrong vehicle. A review of personnel records later confirmed that none of their drivers had used the bus.
The vehicle’s GPS tracker later led authorities to Karlsruhe, approximately 130 kilometres from Wiesbaden. Police located the bus during a patrol and found the teenager behind the wheel. He had reportedly just picked up his girlfriend and was in the process of returning to Wiesbaden.
A police spokesperson said investigators are still trying to determine how the teenager obtained the key and how he was able to operate the bus.
The teenager now faces charges including theft and driving without a licence. No injuries were reported, and the bus was recovered and returned to the company with minimal damage. Investigations remain ongoing.
