“You’re Selfish”: Isaac Fayose Blasts Brother Ayodele Fayose in Birthday Message
Isaac Fayose has stirred public conversation after releasing a birthday message to his older brother, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, accusing him of abandoning those who contributed to his political ascent. The message, shared in a video on his Facebook page to mark Ayodele Fayose’s 65th birthday, mixed well-wishes with pointed criticism.
In the video, Isaac congratulated his brother but said he hoped the new age would inspire a change in what he described as a pattern of self-interest. He recalled sacrifices made by family members during Fayose’s early political journey, highlighting the contribution of their late sister, Bimpe Shorinolu, who he said sold her land in 2002 to help raise funds for Fayose’s first governorship ticket.
Isaac lamented that despite such support, his brother had distanced himself from family members and political allies. He claimed that the former governor did not celebrate his recent birthday with any siblings from his mother’s side and alleged that their mother was excluded from the event. He also accused him of turning his back on long-time members of the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform that produced him as governor on two occasions.
Drawing comparisons with families he described as politically unified, including the Adelekes and the Yar’Aduas, Isaac said his brother preferred to move forward alone once he felt secure. He stressed that his remarks were not motivated by resentment but by a desire for reflection and reconciliation, adding that the family continued to wish Ayodele Fayose well while urging him to “turn a new leaf.”
